On My Way to Dallas, Texas

I go blind

A couple of days ago, my glasses broke. This has caused me a lot of stress for the past few days because I can't see. I'm near-sighted.

This happen to occur right at a crucial time of when I was moving my stuff over from my previous dorm to the summer housing dorm. I woke up one day, showered, and then proceeded to clean my glasses as I usually did.

But then, for some inexplicable reason, the piece that goes over your ear just broke off. I was absolutely floored when this happened.

These were my favorite glasses. And now it's broken.

I have another backup pair, but I don't like them very much. Even worse, they hurt my eyes. Even more unfortunately, the backup pair just disappeared.

So while I was in the process of moving my stuff over to the other dorm, everything seemed to me a blur. I went so far as to turn my new room upside down to find them.

Nothing.

Feeling a bit down, my friend suggested that I contact my eye care place which is in Alaska. The problem is that I'm in Portland.

So then I called them to see if I they still have information on me and they do. Then, I asked them if they could give me my prescription. They said no because it was illegal. At a lost on what to do, I said my goodbyes and hung up.

At this point, I'm feeling like absolute shit. I can barely see. I don't have any glasses. My favorite glasses, which I've had since high school, are broken.

Here's what they look like:

In the Airport

So after packing all my stuff getting ready for my flights, I had managed to kind of adapt to the lifestyle of this new blurry world.

I'm the type of near sightedness where I have to glue my phone to face in order to read it. And so, because of this, it's hard for me to recognize the features of other people. For the most part, I can only go off of the sound that people produce. Even their silhouette is almost unrecognizable to me.

On the bright side, I'm traveling with a big group. They so happen to be right in front of the American Airlines check in rotating door. I was low key scared that I wasn't able to find them.

At first, I wasn't sure that the group that I was approaching was the group that I belonged too, but then my professor called out my name.

I was relieved.

More good news is that, after telling the faculty of my eye problem, they said that they might be able to provide a solution. Because my eye prescription is expired, they suggested that I could have an eye exam over in Malawi.

That'll be cool if we can manage to pull it off. God I feel like my writing is terrible.
